10 Cafes To Enjoy Coffee+Tea In Pune

When it comes to coffee we know that you know about Starbucks, Barista, and their cousins. They are omnipresent in most of the metro and mega cities of India. However, in Pune and in many other cities, you have standalone cafes offering exotic coffees and teas. So, here while we would talk a little about the chains, we are keen on telling you about those places which aren’t travelling the well-defined path. Third Wave

Tucked away in a peaceful lane in Koregaon Park, Third Wave is a cafe with pleasant vibes. Both indoor and outdoor sitting can be used though outdoor is more preferable in the evenings. As the name suggests, coffee has to be the core of their offerings. They have classics, flavoured cappuccinos and lattes, single estate coffees, iced coffees and a few teas. For biting along they offer sandwiches, bagels, omelettes, toasts, and salads.

One O Eight

Pretty spacious cafe with a relaxing ambience. You can talk, lounge around, or work on your laptop. Neither the music nor the people ( generally) are noisy types. An exhaustive food menu includes coffees, teas, juices, and milkshakes. They have kept coffee pretty simple with the regular types plus a couple of blends.

German Bakery (Koregaon Park)

It is hard to believe if a dweller of Pune isn’t aware of this place. A lot of travellers come looking for this place, many of them are backpackers (or modern day hippies). The Koregaon outlet has two floors. Lower level offers outdoor and upper level offers indoor sitting. However, outdoor is way more enjoyable. They offer a wide range of food along with coffees and teas. But even if you’ve chosen to focus on tea or coffee, do try a plate of assorted cookies, you won’t repent.

Starbucks (Koregaon Park)

Starbucks has cafes at multiple locations in pune. However, the one at Koregaon Park has pretty energizing atmosphere. Along with normal sitting, they have high tables where groups often go to cowork. If you need a tete a tete, they have alcoves. The place is spacious with two floors. Koregaon Park itself is one of the interesting areas of Pune, so this Starbucks is worth a visit if you haven’t made one.

Barista (Law College Road)

As always Barista is a good place for coffee with conversations. Maybe a good change from Starbucks if you want one. Here along with indoor, they have pretty decent outdoor sitting. Couple of things they should seriously look into is the quality of loos and staff behaviour.

Coffee Nation

What was once Coffee Republic is now Coffee Nation. This lounge cafe is situated by the eternally busy Law college road. This can be termed a hip coffee joint, it is pretty lively with both indoor and outdoor sitting. Goes without saying that the outdoor area is livelier. They have kept it pretty simple with regular coffees plus a few flavoured ones. There are some teas and shakes along with salads, sandwiches, and waffles.

Cafes For Tea In Pune

Tea Villa (Baner)

Tea Villa is a popular tea lounge with a presence in several cities. This one at Baner offers both indoor and outdoor sitting. As always interior is pretty charming. Their long menu of teas is quite popular. There are regular Indian teas, green teas, herbal teas, oolong and white teas, flavoured teas and various single estate teas. Their food menu is very long featuring dishes from multiple cuisines.

Tea Trails (Westend Mall)

This is one of those hip cafes which are built around the theme of tea. Along with a long list of teas, they also have coffees, shakes, and smoothies. For food, they offer all the expected stuff like pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and kinds of pasta. In addition, they also offer various Indian snacks and meals. While the ambience is pretty vibrant, it isn’t overwhelming. People can be found conversing, working, or just sipping tea.

Chai Point (Phoenix Market City)

Chai Point has a presence in many cities of India. This is, in fact, an outlet serving teas and a few other things in Phoenix mall. They have a few chairs which can quickly get occupied so you might have to have it standing. But their Indian style tea (Chai) is worth the effort, especially the lemongrass chai.

Arbour

Set in the boulevard opposite the Joggers Park of Kalyaninagar, Arbour is a cafe cum bar. The outdoor area is canopied with trees and the nets protect your food from falling leaves. The indoor area is pretty decent and has a relaxing atmosphere. They have a pretty long food menu with both veg and non-veg items. Along with the hot and cold teas, they offer a few variants of green teas and the best part is that the teas are brewed, not the tea bag types. And in coffee, they are also bitten by the third wave bug, so along with regular ones you see the single estate coffees.

Baker Street (Amanora)

This is one of those places where you get both tea and coffee. You can call it either a cafe or an upmarket eatery. There are quite a few choices in hot and cold teas and ditto for coffee. Most of the cafes we’ve talked about offer pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and salad and Bakers Street is no different. But they have also included some Indian meals and snacks which makes them a bit different. The things like Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Idly, Vada Sambhar, Biriyani etc. They also offer a few bakery items. Overall a good place for lounging and resting your feet after exerting in Amanora Mall.

Waghbakri Tea Lounge

Waghbakri at Pune can do much better. It is the one which has hugely impacted the tea scene in Ahmedabad. They run two pretty big tea lounges there and have been amongst few which took tea from stalls to the classy lounges. But in Pune, all they have done is one small cafe. However, if you are a tea connoisseur you’d like to try a few of their teas. Their menu is full of different types of teas, and for food, they offer sandwiches and some other stuff.
