Vintage look, matchless comfort and elegant designs, these are some of the words that come to mind when one looks at the collections of The Summer House. From unique clothing styles to the rustic home-ware, the studio showcases products that are both stylish and sustainable.
More About ‘The Summer House‘
Situated in Jayanagar, an old residential area of Bangalore, The Summer House studio is the choice that its founders Shivangini Parihar and Rekha Datla made. Both were born and brought up in the lap of nature away from the hustle-bustle of city life. To bring that missing purity back to life, Shivangini quit her advertising job. She travelled all over the country to understand how she can create a brand that is pure, beautiful and sustainable. Rekha, on the other hand, had already begun her boutique store. By sheer luck, both met in 2014 and started their journey to create ‘The Summer House’.
At Summer House, they craft apparel for women, accessories, and certain types of home-ware. The differentiation lies in the raw material and the process. They source GOTS certified organic cotton, sustainable fabrics like ‘Tencel’, hand-woven and block printed fabrics and use natural dyes. If it is their way they might not dye at all. Their home-ware is pretty and is crafted by the artisans based in several parts of the country.
The Summer House has both a studio and an online website where you can find sustainable fashion and decor; products like dresses, shirts, jackets, nightwear, handmade towels, baskets, yoga mats and home-ware.
